Air France-KLM commits to SBTi

SustainabilityDec - 03, 2021
Air France-KLM accelerates its environmental transition and commits to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

Air France-KLM is one of the first European airline groups to have its decarbonisation trajectory validated by SBTi. SBTi assesses and checks companies CO2 emissions reduction targets based on a scientific approach and criteria, ensuring that targets are in line with the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to well below 2°C. The goals are based on steps within the context of the air transport industry. By pursuing the SBTi goals, we can achieve a step-by-step reduction in CO2 emissions.

Air France KLM Martinair Cargo is committed to play a leading role in making flying more sustainable. We are convinced that the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) will be one of the main drivers of the decarbonisation of air transport in the years ahead. These non-fossil fuels can reduce the flight footprint by up to 80% over their entire life cycle.

We were the first cargo airline group to start a customer oriented SAF programme in December 2020. We gladly see many others in our industry embracing similar initiatives.
