Martinair – 60 years of true cargo spirit

General CargoJun - 19, 2018
On 24 May it was exactly sixty years ago that Martinair was founded and located at Schiphol Airport.

Over the past decades, Martinair has played a leading role in international aviation. Today, Martinair´s activities include:

  1. Martinair Cargo, the AFKL Group´s full freighter carrier, flying from Schiphol with four Boeing 747-400 freighters in 14 cargo rotations a week to 14 different destinations;
  2. the Regional Jet Centre, responsible for KLM Cityhopper Embraer aircraft maintenance;
  3. the Martinair Flight Academy, the flight school for training professional and private pilots, at Lelystad Airport.

Employees celebrated the anniversary with cake which management brought around to the various locations. Founder Martin Schroder was also a guest at the festive reception that followed for all staff.

We were honoured with the invitation to open the trading day on the Amsterdam stock exchange (Euronext) on Monday – coinciding with our anniversary – with Managing Director Marcel de Nooijer hitting the gong, accompanied by a delegation from the company.
