The decision to relocate comes as a result of a decree issued by the Mexican government, which restricts airlines from operating freighter flights at Mexico City Airport due to capacity constraints. In compliance with the regulations, AFKLMP Cargo will now operate its two weekly freighter flights exclusively from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU).
Felipe Ángeles International Airport, situated approximately 45 km northeast of Mexico City, has been operational since the previous year. Built on the premises of a former military airfield, the airport boasts a developing infrastructure that supports its growing operations.
Aside from the freighter connections, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo will continue its daily transportation of goods as belly cargo to and from Mexico City Airport. With a total of 21 weekly flights operated by Air France and KLM, AFKLMP Cargo guarantees fast and efficient transfer times for cargo shipments between the two airports in the Mexican capital. This is made possible through the provision of truck shuttle services, ensuring smooth logistics operations.
The expansion of cargo services to Felipe Ángeles International Airport signifies Air France KLM Martinair Cargo's commitment to adapting to regulatory requirements and meeting the increasing demand for air freight services in Mexico. By strategically relocating its operations, AFKLMP Cargo aims to maintain its high-quality service standards and provide efficient transportation solutions for its customers in the region.
