A part of our relief related operation has been focused on the cooperation with the Dutch Government. Since the end of March, KLM has been part of the Netherlands' LCH consortium for relief supplies (Landelijk Consortium Hulpmiddelen) set up by the healthcare sector with the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS).
Our KLM Cargo Relief Desk team has been working 24/7 with the consortium ever since to ensure the successful transportation of medical supplies to the Netherlands. More than 25,000 m3 of relief items – including 213 million facemasks, 91 million pairs of gloves and 15 million medical aprons – have been shipped on more than 203 flights to keep our healthcare workers as safe as possible during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This temporary public-private partnership will exist as long as is deemed necessary.
