Air cargo stimulates African economy

Air France – KLM and Martinair have an historical footprint when it comes to guiding airfreight transportations into- and from Eastern & Southern Africa. Main export products are perishables and flowers in particular.

The complete horticultural industry has benefited from our extra efforts in supporting countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

With the continuation of our Cargo flight operations, we have made a major social contribution to the local economies through keeping many farms open, sustaining the livelihood of the families relying on their income from their company.

Even during lockdown period, 240 extra flights were operated. This equals to around 8,400 tons of capacity, achieved with passenger aircraft carrying cargo only. A massive effort to get even closer to our customers´ needs.
