New step forward in Cargo Handling Services at Schiphol Airport

InnovationSep - 24, 2020
Agile solutions are becoming increasingly important and this also applies to the cargo handling services at Schiphol.

KLM therefore joined other stakeholders in signing a declaration last week, taking a first step towards a joint “digital-first” strategy to be launched on 1 January 2021, when it becomes compulsory to digitally pre-register export cargo.

The stakeholders have the ambition to achieve a uniform, efficient and paperless handling process. Registration of your shipment via the e-AWB process, guarantees priority handling. This saves customers a lot of time and long administrative procedures.

As a pioneer, KLM Cargo was first to focus on implementing a paperless service and is pleased that other handling agents will follow suit. Since the launch in 2019, customers have expressed satisfaction with the e-Fast service. Upon arrival at the KLM Cargo site, truck drivers are allowed to proceed directly to the warehouse to unload their cargo.
